Degaussers for Government & Defence in India
NSA/CSS evaluated data-destruction equipment for Indian government departments, defence organisations, police forces and public sector undertakings — with the documentation your tender and audit teams need.
1. What government specifications actually say
Typical clauses you will find in Indian departmental, PSU and defence procurement documents — and what each one means in practice:
| Tender clause | What it requires | Proton answer |
| "NSA listed degausser" | Machine must appear on the NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List for degaussers | Proton T-4 or T-5 |
| "NSA/CSS evaluated HDD destroyer" | Machine must be an evaluated crusher | PDS-75 or PDS-100 |
| "Magnetic field of not less than 20,000 Gauss" | Explicit field threshold | T-4 (bi-directional ±20,000 G) or T-5 (2 Tesla) |
| "Complying with US DoD requirements" | DoD sanitisation of unclassified data | T-1, T-1.2, T-1.5, T-4, T-5 |
| "As per NIST 800-88 guidelines" | Purge for magnetic media, destroy for flash | T-4 / T-5 + PDS-100 + PDS-88 |
| "Capable of degaussing HDDs and tapes" | Both magnetic media classes in scope | All drawer and slot models |
| "Field verification certificate required" | Per-cycle proof of field strength | T-4 (internal Gaussmeter), T-1.5, T-1.2, T-5 |
| "Battery / UPS operation required" | Must run without mains | T-4 with 12 V battery operation option |
| "Destruction of electronic waste shall be as per E-Waste Rules" | Authorised recycler with documentation | Quuridge arranges recycler documentation; register supplied |
| "Machine shall be from an authorised distributor" | Channel authorisation evidence | We supply the channel authorisation letter |
2. T-4 or T-5 for a government installation
| T-4 | T-5 |
| Bi-directional ±20,000 Gauss, patented Reverse Polarity | 2 Tesla (20,000 Gauss) per cycle |
| Cycle under one minute | Cycle under 20 seconds — roughly 3× throughput |
| Internal Gaussmeter with LCD field verification per cycle | Digital cycle counter with LCD status |
| 12 V battery operation option — no mains required | No battery option |
| Compact, desktop or floor use | Compact, desktop or floor use |
| Preferred for secure rooms and moderate volumes | Preferred for bulk drives, tapes and refresh projects |

3. Documentation we provide for tenders
- Manufacturer datasheet and compliance statement for the quoted model
- Authorised distributor / channel partner letter
- NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List reference for the model
- Specification compliance matrix mapped line-by-line to your tender sheet
- Warranty terms, AMC scope and response commitments for the commercial schedule
- Installation, commissioning and operator training commitment
- Test / field verification certificate format for post-delivery acceptance
- Destruction register template and training record templates
Send the tender sheet early. The most common cause of a failed or delayed degausser bid is a clause discovered late that the quoted machine does not meet. Get us the specification and we will confirm compliance in writing, typically the same day.
4. Secure-room considerations
- No mains available. The T-4's 12 V battery operation option removes the need for a power connection in the secure area.
- Physical footprint. All Proton degaussers are compact and suitable for a controlled room or a rack-adjacent utility space.
- Access control. A degausser is a sanitisation capability — treat access to it as access to your destruction process. Physical access control and a log of who operates the machine are part of the control, not an afterthought.
- Deployment. A rugged wheeled deployment case lets the T-4 or T-5 be transported and operated on site — useful when destruction must happen in a scattered estate rather than one room.
- Verification records. Post-delivery acceptance often asks for a field verification test certificate. We issue one with every commissioned machine.
5. Procurement routes
| Route | What you need from us |
| Direct purchase | Quotation, datasheet, compliance statement, authorisation letter, PO |
| GeM portal listing | Product listing support, specification sheet, authorised distributor declaration |
| e-Procurement / CPPP tender | Tender submission pack, compliance matrix, AMC and warranty terms |
| PSU / government rate contract | Rate contract enquiry with volume pricing and delivery commitments |
| Tender through an IT integrator | Equipment supply to the integrator with full technical documentation |
Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions Indian buyers ask most often. Cannot find yours? Call us — we answer technical questions on the phone.
Why do Indian government tenders specify an NSA-listed degausser?
Because it is a recognised, independently verified shorthand for effective magnetic media sanitisation. It removes technical argument from the technical evaluation committee, and it is already the phrasing used in defence, police, PSU and departmental tender documents.
Which Proton products satisfy a government tender?
For magnetic media sanitisation, the NSA/CSS Evaluated Products List listed
Proton T-4 and
Proton T-5 degaussers. For physical destruction, the
PDS-75 and
PDS-100 crushers. For flash, the
PDS-88 shredder.
What documentation do you provide for a bid?
Manufacturer datasheet, compliance statement, channel authorisation letter, EPL reference for the quoted model, a specification compliance matrix against our tender sheet, warranty terms and AMC terms for the commercial schedule.
Can the T-4 run without mains power?
Yes. A 12 V battery operation option is available, which suits secure rooms where a mains connection is undesirable or unavailable.
Do you support GeM and e-procurement submissions?
Yes. We support tender submissions, GeM listings and PSU requirement interpretation, and can arrange authorised-partner documentation on short notice.
